Good morning. This is the final day of racing for the Melges 24 World Championship 2008. The plan today is to sail 3 races. The race committees are now on station reporting a wind direction of 270 to 275 degrees at about 10 knots. They have indicated that they will be sailing course 4 at a distance of 2 miles, shortening the second windward leg to 1.5 miles. At the moment, they plan to start on time.
The results for the Corinthian divisions have been recalculated to reflect a carry forward of Corinthian points for races 1 through 6 into the Gold and Silver divisions.
As a reminder, the awards presentation will be at 2000 this evening followed by a crew party at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.

Good morning. Today is day 2 for the Melges 24 Worlds 2008. The plan is to sail 2 pre-worlds races today, conditions permitting. The weather here in Porto Cervo has taken a substantial turn for the better this morning with blue skies, a few fair weather clouds and a brisk west northwest breeze typical for this area. The race committee departed for the race course at 1000 anticipating the first start at 1130.
Several have asked why there were so few boats racing yesterday while the registration list shows 117 entries for the Worlds. The answer is that the Pre-Worlds is a separate event from the Worlds itself and competitors had to register separately for each event. There were only 58 registrants for the Pre-Worlds.
